Layered over the thunderous drums and bass is a tasty lead guitar tone that felt uplifting contrasting with the raw and emotionally biting sound, I am also very impressed by their demonic vocal performance.
#SOUND CONTROL MANCHESTER FULL#
They have a very full on sound and displayed a very energetic and emotive performance. London’s shoegaze sisters Novella were known as the hardest working band in the capital, playing the circuit relentlessly, gaining admiration from industry and fans while taking it all in their stride. With support from Towns and Temple Songs. As I make my way to the gig, a leaf falls slowly onto the ground beside me. I’ve never experienced such loyalty and passion towards an unsigned band like the No Hot Ashes fans posses. Novella - Live At Sound Control, Manchester. The Stockport band sold out the 450 capacity venue 3 weeks before the show, with many people still begging for tickets on social media. Stepping up the challenge are Ghost Bath starting their set with what I can only describe as a great punch to the face. No Hot Ashes headlined their biggest show to date at Manchester’s Sound Control with excellent support from The Claremonts and The Nix. An unforgettable performance which sets the bar very high for the night.

Her soaring, powerful vocals are enough to send shivers down my spine captured by the push and pull of the band's heavy riffs, their dreamy interludes sending me on a journey throughout their entire set. Vocalist Fia Kempe, armed in a head dress of feathers and warrior face paint is commanding the stage. I make my way upstairs and push through to the front of a hefty crowd to watch the first band of the night The Great Discord.

Words: Kim Jennett | Photos: Anthony Firminįrom the moment I walked into Sound Control I could already feel the thumping drums and silky riffs resonating through the walls. Honestly the place was packed and the sound was pretty decent all night, well for me at least. We asked the Voodoo Woman herself, Kim Jennet, to review Katatoni, Ghost Bat and The Great Discor at Sound Contro for us. So, the Norwegian black metallers roll through Manchester once again, this time in a much smaller venue, at Sound Control, but that didnt stop the legions of fans piling into the place.
